Local Service - Quick Reference Features Guide



Caller ID
This allows the customer to see the name and phone number of an incoming call before you answer the phone. Name and Number displays after the first ring.

The customer is responsible for purchasing the equipment.

Call Waiting
If you are already on an incoming or outgoing phone call, you will hear a tone that tells you that another call is coming in; the tone is repeated in about 10 seconds if you do not answer the call right away.

To Use:
  1. When your hear a beep Press the receiver button quickly, or if your phone has the Flash button press "Flash" and this will transfer you to your incoming phone call while the other party holds.
  2. Tone Block: If you do not want to be notified of a call by the Call Waiting beep during a particular call or when using a fax or modem dial *70 (rotary phone 1170):
  3. Listen for the dial tone
  4. Make your outgoing call
  5. Tone block is turned off when you complete your cal



Call Waiting ID
See the number/name of the calling party while on the phone. When Call Waiting beeps, the caller's name and number displays on the Caller ID screen.




Per Call Blocking
Your name and number does not come up for the person you are calling.

Temporary: To activate press *67, to deactivate just hang up.
Permanent: Your name and number is always blocked unless deactivated with *82.



Tone Block
 

To Use:
  1. To temporarily deactivate Call Waiting press *70 if you do not want to be notified during a particular call or when using a fax or modem.
  2. Listen for dial tone then dial the number you want to call. Call Waiting will be disabled for that call only and anyone trying to call will get a busy signal.



Fixed Call Forwarding (Busy/Don't Answer)
There are 3 different types of Fixed Call Forwarding, you want to be sure that when the customer requests this particular Call Forwarding feature that they choose the type that will best benefit them.

  1. Busy Line automatically forwards when your line is busy
  2. Don't Answer automatically forwards when there is no answer after predetermined amount of rings
  3. Busy Line Don't Answer automatically forwards when your line is busy or there is no answer after a predetermined amount of rings
It is very important that you get the phone # (s) that the customer would like the line to forward to.
Call Wave
Some customers may use this with the Call Wave feature, which is set up through callwave.com, (we have no control over the Call Wave feature). If the customer has Call Waiting active on their line then they would have to dial *70 in front of the local dial up number for their internet service; otherwise the Fixed Call forwarding will not work - the line will just keep ringing and the incoming call will not be answered. The incoming call will then forward to the call wave feature and display a pop up box which will let the customer know they have an incoming call.



Anywhere/Ultra Call Forwarding
This lets you forward incoming calls to any phone number. If you forward your calls to a long distance number then the forwarded calls will be included in your bill as a Long Distance charge.

To Use: To activate Press *72 and to deactivate Press *73
You must initialize your service from your subscribing telephone before you can use Ultra Forward/Call Ability.

  1. Lift the receiver from your subscribing telephone and listen for a dial tone.
  2. Dial 888-294-1618. Do not block your number by using either Per Call Blocking or Line Blocking when placing this call. If necessary, press *82 to unblock your number.
  3. Listen to the prompts and then enter your 10-digit telephone number.
  4. Listen to the prompts to establish your Personal Identification  Number (PIN). Your PIN can be 4 to 10 digits. Your PIN cannot be the last 4, 7, or 10 digits of your telephone number.
  5. Listen for the system to indicate that you have successfully initialized your Ultra Forward/Call Ability service.

If you forget your PIN - Call 888-294-1618 from your subscribing telephone to re-establish your PIN.

Forwarding calls or deactivating this feature from your subscribing telephone:

To forward calls from your subscribing telephone:

  1. Lift your telephone's receiver and listen for the dial tone.
    Press 72#.
  2. Dial the number where you want your calls forwarded.

To deactivate Ultra Forward/Call Ability from your subscribing telephone:

  1. Pick up the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
  2. Press 73# to deactivate Ultra Forward/Call Ability.
  3. Listen for a confirmation tone.
  4. Hang up the receiver.

Forwarding calls or deactivating this feature from a remote telephone:

You can forward calls from any 12-button telephone with touch tone capability:

  1. Lift the receiver of any touch tone phone and dial the Ultra Forward access telephone number 888-294-1618.

    Dial 703-641-7963 if you are calling from an International location.
  2. Enter the 10-digit telephone number of your subscribing telephone.
  3. Enter your Ultra Forward/Call Ability PIN followed by #.
  4. Follow the automated instructions to activate your Ultra Forward/Call Ability feature. Listen to additional automated instructions to enter the number where you want your calls to be forwarded. Always wait for confirmation of your changes before hanging up the receiver.

To deactivate Ultra Forward/Call Ability from a remote telephone:

  1. Dial 888-294-1618.
  2. Enter the 10-digit telephone number of your subscribing telephone.
  3. Enter your Ultra Forward/Call Ability PIN by #.
  4. Follow the recorded, automated instructions to deactivate your Ultra Forward/Call Ability feature.

Additional information

When you forward your calls, you will be charged the appropriate local, regional toll or long distance charges for all calls that are forwarded.

Ultra Forward/Call Ability does not allow calls to be forwarded to international numbers.

If your line has any toll restrictions, Ultra Forward/Call Ability will not work.





Variable Call Forwarding
This lets you forward incoming calls to any phone number. If you forward your calls to a long distance number then the forwarded calls will be included in your bill as a Long Distance charge. This feature must be set from the home phone.

To Use: To activate Press *72 and to deactivate Press *73
You must initialize your service from your subscribing telephone before you can use Ultra Forward/Call Ability.

  1. Using a touch tone phone dial *72 from the line that has the Call Forwarding. (rotary phones can dial 1172)
  2. Dial the number to which you want the calls forwarded.
  3. When the phone is answered keep the connection for at least 6 seconds, then Call Forwarding is in effect.





Three-Way
This allows the customer to add a third person to their phone conversation. This feature can be used by any customer unless it is blocked per the customer's request.

To Use:
  1. Press and release the receiver to put call on hold; if your phone has the flash button then press Flash to click over to new caller
  2. To return to the first call Press Flash again or press and release the receiver



*69 (Automatic Callback)
This provides the customer with the phone number of the last incoming call, and it will also allow you to automatically call back the number.

To Use:
  1. Press *69, you will hear an announcement telling you the phone number of the last incoming call.
    (Rotary 1169)



*66 (Repeat Dialing)
This redials a busy number for you, and will keep dialing for up to 30 minutes. You will hear a special ring to let you know when the called number is available.

To Use:
  1. When you get a busy signal hang up the receiver.   Pick the receiver back up listen for dial tone and press *66.
    (Rotary 1166)



Distinctive Ring Service (Multi-Ring Service)
This allows the customer to have one additional phone number ring differently. These numbers do not have a dial tone (more like a toll free number). If the customer has the Features ++ package we offer two Distinctive ring numbers.

Example: Roommates or teenagers can each have their own phone number and listing.

Parents and children can have their own phone number without having to pay for two lines.
To Use:
    Local Department has to set this up for the customer.



Anonymous Call Rejection
Caller ID and Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR), also called Anonymous Call Block, enable you to reject calls from people who have blocked the display of their telephone numbers and caller information. If anonymous callers contact you, they'll hear a message that instructs them to hang up, remove their block and call again.
    To Activate ACR:
  • Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone.
  • Press *77. (Rotary dial 1-1-7-7)
    To Cancel ACR:
  • Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone.
  • Press *87. (Rotary dial 1-1-8-7)
