Setting up Eudora
You need to have your screen name and password at this time. If you do not remember them, you can contact
us and a staff member can assist you. In addition, these instructions assume that you have Eudora already
installed on your computer. If you do not have a copy of Eudora, please download a copy from
here and install it before proceeding.
Anatomy of an Email Address
If you don't know the difference between your screen name and e-mail address or domain, please take a moment
to identify the parts of your e-mail address so that the following instructions will make more sense.
Your e-mail address resembles the following: johndoe@closecall.com
Every e-mail address contains:
- 'screenname' (also called a user id or username) which in this case is johndoe
- '@'
- 'domain.com' which in this case is closecall.com
Lets Get Started!
Once Eudora has been installed, launch Eudora as you would any other program by clicking on Start > Programs
Eudora > Eudora Light. The steps should look something like this:

Depending on the version you are using, you will either be able to click on Tools, then Options OR Special, then
Settings instead.

You'll notice a window pops up containing a "Category" column with icons on the left and corresponding setting
options on the right. Please begin configuration by clicking on the Personal Information icon and complete
the following information (an example follows below):
| POP Account: | screenname@domain.com |
| Real name: | your name or business name (optional) |
| Return address: | screenname@domain.com |
Where domain.com is closecall.com
For example, if you know that your e-mail address is johndoe@closecall.com, then your settings would be:
| POP Account: | johndoe@domain.com |
| Pop Server: | mail1.closecall.com |
| Return address: | johndoe@domain.com |

Next, click the Hosts icon to enter the SMTP server address:
| SMTP Server: | smtp1.closecall.com |
| Ph Server: | none (leave blank) |
| Finger Server: | none (leave blank) |

Then, click the Checking Mail icon.
- Uncheck "Leave Mail on Server" to avoid exceeding your disk space limit.
- Set the time interval for checking your mailbox. If you do not want Eudora to automatically check your mailbox, enter "0"
- If you would like to be able to compose mail off-line, uncheck "Immediate Send."
- Make sure that the "Passwords" button is checked
- If you want Eudora to remember your mail password, check "Save Password.""
Click the Sending Mail icon. If there is a window for your SMTP server, please enter: smtp.closecall.com
Click on the Advanced Network icon on the left. The Network open time-out and Network time-out after are set to 60 seconds. We recommend a setting of up to 600 seconds. Click the OK button.
You have now successfully configured Eudora!
